What and why Wikipedia?

The general definition of Wikipedia is “A web-based encyclopedia with content contributed by volunteers; most articles can be edited by anyone”. It’s so extensively used that when you type a single word in any search engine, the first result refers to Wikipedia page. The best way of using Wikipedia is using it as a quick reference. Since, it can be edited by any member of the user, wiki is not a completely free from errors and all the information cited in wiki is not cent percent true. If you want to know more about anything, rely on .edu sites for your education. One can never neglect wiki, as it comprises of all the information relevant to a topic with citation that has the original content.

Recently, Wikipedia is facing with a lot of controversies and obligations from educational institutions primarily. The website’s reliability can be increased by monitoring the changes and also keeping reliable reviewers of the modified content. It has many sister sites like wikiversity (Free learning materials and activities), wikinews, wikibooks etc. Wiki is great repository of knowledge, just have glance over it when you are bored using internet, you will be knowing a lot of facts and I am sure you will be fascinated too.
